Driller very happy after trialling new EZEE PAC R

AMC’s new EZEE PAC R is the result of 10 months research and extensive trialling in an effort to solve inherent mixing problems when using standard powdered polymers such as PACs and TROLs. Trial results show reduced usage and time over the hopper that should significantly lower drilling costs.

“After trialling the new EZEE PAC R there were some obvious differences. The hopper didn’t clog; the product went into solution quickly and in general mixed extremely well. Our usage and time standing over the hopper was reduced so I am very happy with the results” says Jeremy Dowdall of Kalgoorlie based drilling contractor, Terra Drilling, after he trialled AMC’s new EZEE PAC R on a project in Port Hedland drilling PQ core through an iron ore deposit.

AMC Drilling Fluids & Chemicals Technical Manager Charlie Oliver claims readily dispersible EZEE PAC R does not fish-eye and will mix into most fluid mediums with minimal agitation, eliminating the need for drilling contractors to use a soluble oil to blend the PAC into solution before adding to the system.  “The key objective when developing EZEE PAC R was to maintain or improve the physical properties and activity levels achieved when using standard PAC R, yet eliminate the fish-eye syndrome experienced when mixing fine powdered polymers” he said.

“Our readily dispersible EZEE PAC R does not fish-eye and will mix into most fluid mediums with minimal agitation. These qualities eliminate the need for drilling contractors to use a soluble oil to blend the PAC into solution before adding to the system” he continued.

“EZEE PAC R is ideal for fluid systems where filtration control and hole stability are crucial and it offers significant cost benefits to customers because it’s 98% active... liquids and slurries commonly used for drilling applications are generally only 40%” he added.
